something else besides stare at people in little else besides stare at people in little else besides stare at people in little boxes boxes boxes but i will confess i would rather stare but i will you at all um i don’t want to speak for the at all um i don’t want to speak for the at all um i don’t want to speak for the entire entire entire admin committee but i would be surprised admin committee but i would be surprised admin committee but i would be surprised if they don’t agree if they don’t agree if they don’t agree the last two years and trying to figure the last two years and trying to figure the last two years and trying to figure out out out how to have the conversations continue how to have the conversations continue how to have the conversations continue how to have this community move forward how to have this community move forward how to have this community move forward without without without our legendary conferences has been our legendary conferences has been our legendary conferences has been quite a struggle when the pandemic first quite a struggle when the pandemic first quite a struggle when the pandemic first hit last spring hit last spring hit last spring we tried so hard to figure out a way we tried so hard to figure out a way we tried so hard to figure out a way where we could still where we could still where we could still do our thing and we we’ve met uh we had do our thing and we we’ve met uh we had do our thing and we we’ve met uh we had zoom calls we zoom calls we zoom calls we swapped spreadsheets around we said how swapped spreadsheets around we said how swapped spreadsheets around we said how can we actually do this in a way can we actually do this in a way can we actually do this in a way that is safe and the answer the painful that is safe and the answer the painful that is safe and the answer the painful answer was we just answer was we just answer was we just couldn’t do it so like everybody we were couldn’t do it so like everybody we were couldn’t do it so like everybody we were silly enough and we thought oh silly enough and we thought oh silly enough and we thought oh let’s just push it off till fall be done by then by then by then and now we are a year plus and now we are a year plus and now we are a year plus later and the whole pandemic thing has later and the whole pandemic thing has later and the whole pandemic thing has not not not is not over um we’re slowly is not over um we’re slowly is not over um we’re slowly coming out of it depending on where you coming out of it depending on where you coming out of it depending on where you are in the world are in the world are in the world um you may be in a better place you may um you may be in a better place you may um you may be in a better place you may not be in such a great place not be in such a great place not be in such a great place and so what we really want to do is to and so what we really want to do is to and so what we really want to do is to make sure that this next four days make sure that this next four days make sure that this next four days is really comfortable for people to be is really comfortable for people to be is really comfortable for people to be able to join especially able to join especially able to join especially if this is your first IASSIST if this is your first IASSIST if this is your first IASSIST conference welcome conference welcome conference welcome this is not what we usually look like this is not what we usually look like this is not what we usually look like but that doesn’t mean it won’t look like but that doesn’t mean it won’t look like but that doesn’t mean it won’t look like that in the future that in the future that in the future um i know that i have gotten feedback um i know that i have gotten feedback um i know that i have gotten feedback from several folks saying that this has from several folks saying that this has from several folks saying that this has made it so much easier for them made it so much easier for them made it so much easier for them to be able to connect and i think to be able to connect and i think to be able to connect and i think there’s a be more to for us to be able to be more inclusive inclusive inclusive it does miss some of the flavor that it does miss some of the flavor that it does miss some of the flavor that um we’ve had in previous conferences for um we’ve had in previous conferences for um we’ve had in previous conferences for those those those who have had the opportunity to attend who have had the opportunity to attend who have had the opportunity to attend in person in the past in person in the past in person in the past you know that um we’re a phenomenally you know that um we’re a phenomenally you know that um we’re a phenomenally fun fun fun bunch and we’re going to do our best to bunch and we’re going to do our best to bunch and we’re going to do our best to actually actually actually make that obvious through make that obvious through make that obvious through this two-dimensional aspect this two-dimensional aspect this two-dimensional aspect but yes like everybody else i do miss but yes multitask anybody who thinks they can multitask anybody who thinks they can multitask should have learned since this pandemic should have learned since this pandemic should have learned since this pandemic began that that’s actually began that that’s actually began that that’s actually not a thing you can make it look like not a thing you can make it look like not a thing you can make it look like you’re doing more than one thing at a you’re doing more than one thing at a you’re doing more than one thing at a time time time but you’re not actually doing more than but you’re not actually doing more than but you’re not actually doing more than one thing at a time one thing at a time one thing at a time um unless that’s just a quirk with my um unless that’s just a quirk with my um your mark i just hitting your mark i just hitting your mark i just finished teaching my undergrad finished teaching my undergrad finished teaching my undergrad predictive analytics course online predictive analytics course online predictive analytics course online and i got to tell you the whole five and i got to tell you the whole five and i got to tell you the whole five people who turned on their cameras all people who turned on their cameras all people who turned on their cameras all semester semester semester out of 65 they were super engaged out of 65 they were super engaged out of 65 they were super engaged behind their masks but um it’s really behind their masks but um it’s really behind their masks but um it’s really difficult to know difficult to know difficult to know when you’re hitting the mark when you’re when you’re hitting the mark when you’re when you’re hitting the mark when you’re not and not and not and we’ve got a lot a lot of expertise and a we’ve got a lot a to share that with you want to share that with you want to share that with you so to the extent that you can please so to the extent that you can please so to the extent that you can please give them
