Use your phone camera in OBS Studio with DroidCam

And so.. Droid-Cam is a plugin for OBS Studio that allows us to use our phone camera from Wi-Fi. And so, in this very sophisticated video I will show you how to set it up! There is nothing to show you really, because everything is straight forward, but I will make a video anyway because I just need to troll someone in the end! So first we need to download the plugin from this page, and I will post a link on description. And it will work both for Windows Linux and MacOS, but we obviously need the Linux version! When we unzip the plugin, we’ll find these four files inside. And if we open the installation script, we’ll see it just copies the plugin on.config directory, which obviously we don’t want for the Flatpak OBS.

00:44 - I’m using Fedora Silverblue by the way, and what we need is to copy this folder, to the appropriate sandboxed Flatpak location. If you’re unsure what’s that, just read the path on Files headerbar! Create Plugins folder if not exist, and copy! Then you need the Android app, that is also available for iOS, and basically it opens a port for the client to connect. Also notice, while the plugin is open source, the Android app isn’t! And it also says we should buy the pro version for having the watermark removed, although I don’t see any watermark! Next you need to open the Android app, and then back to OBS, you need to add DroidCam OBS to the sources! On Wi-Fi you just need to add the IP of your phone, and press activate! Basically activate won’t work right now, because I’m already using OBS to record this video, so let me quickly restart that! Okay, back! And so everything works now! And we can move the thumbnail anywhere we want, we can scale it and all those! And most importantly you can now watch the view outside my balcony! Well, I guess I had to turn on some lights!
