making the viral tiktok pasta (and coming out!!!)

- Hello, everybody. Welcome back to another vlog.

00:02 - I’m having a makeup free day, going to let my skin breathe but, we are just approaching dinner time now.

00:08 - And I’m going to do something that I feel like the entire internet has done already, but we haven’t.

00:14 - And we’re going to be trying the ever famous, ever trendy, ever viral, ever popular TikTok pasta.

00:20 - I’m trying to gather all of my things off my nightstand to take downstairs.

00:25 - Now I have limited mobility with my arm. Hold please.

00:28 - So in case, for some reason, you haven’t heard of this TikTok pasta, which I don’t know, or it’s like it’s on Instagram now, too.

00:34 - I don’t know how you would have made it this far, but if you have, then it is essentially like the easiest recipe ever.

00:41 - You take a block of Feta cheese and you bake it in the oven with some tomatoes and then once it’s baked, you basically stir it and it forms a sauce.

00:50 - And then you mix your pasta in it. And apparently, it’s like this incredible, creamy, saucy pasta.

00:56 - I love Feta cheese. I don’t know how I feel about eating a block of it (giggles) as pasta sauce, but everyone says it’s really good.

01:02 - Drew’s vacuuming. So we’ll see. So here are the ingredients that you’re going to need for this pasta.

01:08 - You’re gonna need a block of Feta, obviously.

01:10 - Admittedly, I’ve actually never bought a block of Feta in my life, but here it is.

01:15 - It is a whole ass block. You’re also gonna need a thing of grape tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, just like miniature tomatoes basically.

01:22 - You’re gonna need some Basil, which we already have here.

01:25 - And, that’s not like, necessary, I think some people make it without but you add some Basil in, like after it’s done baking and then you can add other things like garlic, Italian seasoning.

01:37 - Some people are putting like lemon juice, et cetera.

01:39 - You can add whatever you want. There’s really no recipe.

01:42 - For your first step, you’re going to need to take, week old wine that you drank half the bottle of while you were sitting in your guest room, by yourself on FaceTime with your girlfriend.

01:54 - Oh! Not girlfriend. Yeah, I came out recently.

01:56 - I don’t have a girlfriend. I just have a boyfriend, sorry.

01:58 - With one of your best friends. That was a week ago today.

02:03 - But, I’m just gonna go for it. You don’t drink alcohol, make yourself a nice little sparkling water, some fruit, mint.

02:09 - I’m having week old Sauvignon Blanc. Cheers! - Cheers! - It’s not, it’s not bad to drink week old wine.

02:18 - I mean, we used to like, at the restaurant I used to work at, after like three days we would throw it out.

02:23 - But it’s not like it’ll get you sick. It’s just like, it loses its like…

02:27 - - [Drew] Most likely turning to vinegar. - It’s not vinegary, it’s just (cork squeaking) It just doesn’t really taste like anything.

02:36 - Then, the next step is you get like a little baking dish.

02:39 - A lot of people have been using those kind of like oval chafing dishes.

02:42 - We don’t have those. So we’re just gonna use like a normal baking dish.

02:45 - Very important step, preheat the oven. So, the first thing you do is, you take your grape tomatoes.

02:51 - Actually, I should probably rinse these. I can’t remember if we did or not.

02:54 - Layla is eating her dinner in the background.

02:56 - So if you can hear that, please forgive. Okay, got our tomatoes.

03:00 - Looking very cute in this little dish. And then, you basically just drizzle some olive oil on top.

03:06 - Don’t wanna do too much because you don’t want it to burn.

03:09 - Gonna do a little bit of salt and pepper, not a lot because Feta is really salty.

03:13 - (Humming) Opa! And you just mix that all around.

03:22 - Make sure it’s like coated evenly. This is a very big pan for this.

03:27 - Hopefully, it won’t mess anything up. For the main event, you take your block of Feta, which I’m pretty sure this is in like water or like a brine and you just plop in the (giggles) - [Drew] Her water broke.

03:42 - - Okay, just plop it in there. We have our block of Feta.

03:45 - Don’t mind Layla drinking water, you know. Girls gotta drink.

03:48 - Just drizzle it with the same thing. Olive oil, salt and pepper.

03:52 - Not a lot of salt. I’d rather add salt later.

03:55 - I’m just gonna add some pepper, taking just a little bit of oregano and sprinkling it on top of everything.

04:00 - If you have like Italian seasoning, that would be good.

04:02 - Here is the before. Obviously, ideally, you would like it to be in a smaller dish.

04:07 - I’m considering moving it into a pie dish, but we’ll see.

04:11 - All right, so here’s what it’s gonna look like.

04:12 - We kind of just like crowded the tomatoes near it and then you just put it in the oven for 30 minutes at 400 degrees.

04:19 - We’ve seen a lot of people do a lot of different things.

04:21 - I am trying not to bring attention to the fact that I don’t look very good right now.

04:26 - I’ve mentioned this for like probably a year or so in vlogs that I’m trying not to like excuse the way I look.

04:32 - So, anyways, I’m working through that as I’m talking right now.

04:34 - But anyways, we looked it up online and we saw a few different things about roasting garlic, like, for long periods of time.

04:41 - Some say you can roast it, for like, up to 45 minutes.

04:44 - And so, if this is only 30 minutes, it’s just such a high temperature, I don’t know.

04:47 - But we’re gonna risk it. We’re gonna go for it.

04:49 - Some people have been adding in their garlic the last, like 10, 15 minutes, but we want the garlic flavor to be in there.

04:55 - So, we’re gonna add these cloves of garlic, they’re kind of small.

04:58 - So we’re gonna add four. He’s getting the last one out.

05:00 - And then it’s time to go in the oven. Night night garlics.

05:04 - See you in 30 minutes, girlies. (microwave beeping) This would be an interesting debate to ask because this is the thing that Drew and I constantly talk about.

05:12 - Do you, when you’re cooking, do you set the timer on the microwave or on the oven? It obviously makes the most sense to set the timer on the oven, but I feel like it just takes longer and I’m so used to like setting the timer on the microwave that I just set it on the microwave and now I’ve gotten Drew doing it.

05:27 - Because when we first started dating, - [Drew] This one stopped working.

05:30 - That’s the reason I’m doing this. - One, there’s some electrical issues in this house which we’ve mentioned.

05:35 - - Also though, why setting it on the oven makes more sense, is that if we have to microwave something, it won’t let you put in the time.

05:41 - - Sometimes, like some microwaves do, - This one doesn’t though.

05:43 - - I know but we don’t have to microwave anything.

05:45 - So we’ll be fine. - What if we had to? - Then the world would burn down.

05:49 - So anyway, I find that really interesting because Drew and I always talk about that.

05:52 - Like, some people are microwave timer people and some people are oven timer people.

05:58 - Anyways, I’m a microwave girl. What can I say? The last thing I forgot to mention is that you’re going to need pasta, obviously.

06:03 - The pasta that I decided to get for this, just that I ordered, like, for our grocery delivery is Orecchiette, Orecchiette.

06:10 - It’s like a little shell pasta, it just looks really good.

06:14 - So, we’re gonna boil that up. And then basically when it’s done, you mix it up and you put your pasta in it.

06:20 - It seems pretty easy, but, everyone’s raving about it.

06:23 - But then I’ve seen other people that are like it’s just, okay.

06:26 - So, I don’t know if it’s over-hyped in my mind but Drew will let you know because he is so honest that sometimes it is painful.

06:35 - - I am so nice. - Very nice, but you’re very honest.

06:39 - If Drew is having an amazing meal, he will say, I’ll say, how is it? He’ll go, it’s okay.

06:45 - That means it’s really good. But if he’s like, it’s really good, then you know it’s like one of the best things he’s ever had in his life.

06:52 - (water running) (water boiling) Time is now! We have garlic bread in there too.

06:58 - Still needs a little bit of time. We kind of let it burn a little bit, but like, I think it’ll still be okay.

07:03 - - Maybe we should like scoop it out. - Scoop it out, yeah.

07:06 - So we decided to take the good stuff out instead of take the bad stuff out and bad news, we don’t get the satisfying, like, montage, but it’s okay.

07:17 - It’s still kind of a block. Okay, the time is now.

07:22 - Here we go. Oh my gosh! - This is squishy.

07:27 - - It is squishy. It is exactly what it looks like, on the internet.

07:34 - Yeah, I got to be careful. Wow! I’m in a trance.

07:41 - Let’s start with like that. Whoa baby! I’ve seen some people add like a splash of cream or milk or half and half or whatever to this.

07:52 - So we’ll see. But so far, it looks okay.

07:56 - It looks pretty good to me. Does it look good to you? - Yeah, I think so.

08:00 - Are we getting the basil? - Oh yeah.

08:02 - Chop up that basil. Look at the chiffonade over here.

08:07 - Love a man that knows what to do with a knife.

08:11 - It’s not the only thing you know, sorry. Anyways, if this is, like, underwhelming, I’m gonna be so sad.

08:17 - Wow! So beautiful. Wow! - If it’s bad, I’m gonna be pissed.

08:21 - - That’s the other thing about Drew, is if something is bad, he does not recover.

08:27 - - It ruins my day. - It truly does.

08:29 - - Cheers. - It’s not bad. - It’s pretty good.

08:40 - - Think it needs more salt, you know? - Maybe a little.

08:45 - Mmmmm! - Pretty good to me too. - There we have it.

08:48 - So your night’s not ruined? - No. - It’s yum.

08:52 - (bottle spraying) - We just finished up dinner and we actually ended up taking our dinner over to the couch and watching ‘Silicon Valley’ because we used to watch it.

09:04 - If you’ve watched my videos back when I used to vlog on my main channel, back in like 2016, 2017, Drew and I used to watch ‘Silicon Valley. ’ we were obsessed with it.

09:14 - We haven’t watched, I think the most recent, like the last season, before the show ended, and so instead of, like watching that season and being like, wait, What happened? We decided to start it over from the beginning cause it’s 30 minute episodes.

09:28 - So, we were like, we’ll just watch it when we like, eat our dinner and stuff.

09:31 - Sometimes, when we’re eating dinner, we like to have a show on.

09:34 - So, it used to be like ‘Friends’ and ‘The Office’ and things like that but since both of those are off of Netflix now, we have HBO Max.

09:42 - So we thought we would check out ‘Silicon Valley’ again.

09:45 - And it’s super funny, but now I think what we’re gonna do is, it’s like almost seven o’clock.

09:50 - So, I think we don’t normally take Layla on walks when it’s dark, but there’s like a little park at the end of the street and I thought that we would, like, take her down there because we didn’t get to walk her earlier today cause we were both so busy with work.

10:02 - She’s gonna be very excited cause we usually do mornings W’s but, we’re taking advantage because if you didn’t know, in the summertime, in Arizona, like, when we say it’s hot, like, I mean, you just you literally just can’t imagine unless you live here.

10:15 - It’s kind of like, maybe if you live in a cold climate and people are, like, I love snow.

10:20 - I love the cold. I wanna live there and you’re like no, no, you don’t get it.

10:23 - It’s like that opposite extreme. So, coming up pretty soon here by, like, I would say June-ish, it’s gonna be like a hundred degrees, even when the sun goes down and you won’t get a moment where it’s like, under 90 degrees until probably like October, November.

10:42 - So, we’re really trying to take advantage of that while we can.

10:44 - So, I think that’s gonna be what we do tonight.

10:48 - Cause we try to walk Layla every single day.

10:50 - She can’t walk far, obviously, because you know, she tore her ACL and her meniscus back in April, but she still can.

10:56 - She has a little bit of energy left in her.

10:58 - So, I think that’s what we’re gonna do. Were at your favorite place? Oh, big truck! (truck engine revs) What is it with the big trucks? It’s like, I go vroom, vroom.

11:08 - (truck engine accelerates) I have big loud truck.

11:12 - I don’t get it. Someone explain. (slow guitar music) (package opening) (music playing) (spoon tapping) (blender grinding) (guitar music) This thing definitely got a little bit dirty because you know, we definitely left it outside in the rain a couple of times but it’s all dried out now and it’s fine.

12:15 - And I am so relaxed. Man, I just drink that protein smoothie and now I’m laying down but other than that, I feel good.

12:22 - So before I close out this vlog, I just wanted to quickly say a huge thank you to everyone who has been just so sweet and supportive via my coming out video, if you missed that.

12:39 - I mean, to me it’s something that I’ve always known about myself, but it feels really good for other people to know it and to feel validated.

13:11 - It’s a brand that I really love that I’ve talked about before, sneak peak.

13:15 - Also, yes, it is okay to have rolls and to let them hang out and to not worry about it.

13:20 - It’s a very normal thing. A lot of people have them.

13:24 - I used to try and sort of like, find the most flattering angles, because believe it or not, sometimes people, so I’ve learned, go through my videos, other creator’s videos and find the most unflattering angles and then post it on like gossip forums And everyone talks about it.

13:39 - It’s kind of weird. No, no offense.

13:41 - So, for like a hot second there, I used to try to like avoid awkward angles and just try to make sure, like, no, here you go, screenshot that.

13:48 - Don’t forget my double chin as well. Anyways, I love you all very much.
