Hey guys I have something to show you today but first I’m going to give you a little bit of background about it.

00:15 - A lot of my Maker friends and Hardware hacker friends.

00:19 - They come and ask me, “Oh what do you think is the cheapest tablet I can find to control my projects” I was like I don’t know I’m not an expert on tablets.

00:32 - Usually for my projects I just used my phone to control it.

00:35 - But I mean if you’re going to do a demo in public you don’t want to pass your $600 phone to everybody else so that’s that and so I want to find out.

00:48 - I want to find it out for you guys. I went down to Hua Qiang Bei the biggest electronic market in Shenzhen and you know I have a lot of friends there at a booth and the vendors, and they show me like a stack of tablets.

01:05 - I went through all of them and I asked which one got returned the most and they showed me that and of course I would never pick that for you.

01:17 - But I managed to find a usable one and during that time I didn’t film and I didn’t take any pictures because you know there are a lot of counterfeits and shanzhai (fakes) stuff there.

01:31 - They won’t allow me to film there. But I managed to find one that you can buy and ship abroad and they also sell it on Banggood.

01:42 - I will put the link in the comment section later.

01:44 - Okay before I continue, I gotta say I’m not recommending this tablet for everyone.

01:49 - It’s mostly it’s mostly for my Maker friends and Hardware hacker friends to control their projects.

01:57 - Maybe museum installations, for kids to watch videos those are not a problem.

02:03 - But if you’re looking for daily use out of it I don’t know I’m not reviewing for that.

02:10 - I changed it to landscape instead of portrait so you guys can have a better view.

02:17 - So this is the menu. It is almost like stock Android there are no weird skin or anything like that.

02:30 - I will go to some Chinese website to show you the speed.

03:07 - For browsing the website the speed is fine.

03:14 - Now let’s go to the settings. Scroll down. About tablet It’s running the 5. 1 Android version.

03:27 - it’s the most recent version I could find. Most of the tablets in this price range this tablet only cost $70 they were even older versions and this is as new as I could find.

03:45 - This is just a standard Android tablet there’s nothing more interesting I can show you but I do want to show you the hardware.

03:57 - At the back I have to open it from the How clumsy.

04:16 - So at the back you just open it from the corner they have a curve here for you it is easier for you to open it and then when I open it you can see there are two SIM card slot here.

04:31 - It’s common in China and an SD card slot and the camera.

04:34 - The back camera is good but the front camera is a little fuzzy I can show you.

04:42 - Let me put it back. So the back camera is ok the quality is not that bad.

04:52 - But the front camera- let me take a picture for you guys so you can get an idea it.

05:05 - It’s like this. So if you’re really going to take a picture just use the back one.

05:16 - The front one is for decoration I think. Also you could if you want to take a screenshot you just click on the menu there is on the side you can just click this and it automatically takes screenshots for you.

05:56 - So to give you guys some ideas of what I’m going to use this tablet for I designed and 3D printed some accessories for the tablet.

06:06 - This is the cover case for the tablet. If you have kids at home and if they want to you know drop the tablet they can do it for short term with this phone case.

06:26 - it’s free you can download it and I will put the link in the comment section also.

06:32 - So this is way looks like. The slots they’re still matching and I will put the file in the comments section.

06:49 - It’s free you can download it and if you want to modify for your projects you can.

07:01 - This one here this one is for Maker Faires or maybe museum installations.

07:07 - I mean it’s not theft-proof but it’s definitely harder for people to tamper with.

07:14 - You have to put the zip tie around so that it will be secured.

07:19 - Again the model is free for you to download if you want to modify it you can but for this one you just put a zip-tie around it and it also has a hole for the lock so it’s pretty secure. Even when you walk away it’s hard for people to just take it and wander away.

09:50 - This is a wall mount bracket I also designed this for you guys, you can download it and modify it yourself. Whatever you want.

09:58 - You can use it to control your home automation or home theater I’m probably going to use it to monitor my door camera.

10:13 - Okay that’s it. That’s the Voyo X7 review it’s not great but it’s pretty good for the price.

10:19 - I recommend it for my hardware and Maker friends or for your projects.

10:25 - If you’re interested in buying one I will put the link in the comment section.

10:29 - Thanks a lot for watching!.
