To order PCBs you can export the necessary files directly from KiCAD. First of all, however, it is advisable to thoroughly check the project again. I always check the circuit diagram to make sure that all connections are in place. Otherwise errors could creep into the netlist, which can then also be found in the layout. Everything looks good here. Now I check the layout… First, I always do a DRC check for missing connections or detect short circuits.
00:58 - I often have overlapping footprints when I place components very close together. But there are no other problems here. To be on the safe side, I look at the circuit board in the 3D viewer. I can’t find any abnormalities here… (Unfortunately I haven’t found a 3D model for the battery holder yet.) … everything looks good… Now I export the manufacturing files. This is done in the plot mode. The settings shown here work with most providers. First I create the file for the holes. Then it is the turn of the files for the various layers. Not all layers are selected.
02:16 - Only the layers for conductor tracks, solder mask, board outline, Lettering and solder paste (a stencil is then made from this). Now all files are simply combined in a zip archive. This zip archive should then be given a unique name. Now comes the ordering process. To do this, the file is uploaded to the provider. Important! Carefully check the displayed preview. Especially the holes! Also check whether the dimensions determined match the design! Select the number and color, leave the other settings unchanged usually with the default settings.
03:47 - JLCPCB offers the option of making a small stencil for the application of the solder paste to be ordered. That is enough for the hobby area completely off. The template should be at least as big as the circuit board. There are solder pads on the back of my project. But I only need that stencil for the top. I tell the editor that too. Otherwise would the size is not enough and JLCPCB would ask accordingly (good service!). At the end everything goes together in the shopping cart. Check everything again and then place the order. This works like other online shops and should therefore not shown separately here. .
