Kermita’s Life Cycle splash Do you see that frog over there? That’s Kermita. Kermita wasn’t always that big though. She started as a little egg laid on a lily pad with one thousand other brothers and sisters. Frog eggs take anywhere from 3 to 25 days to hatch. When she hatched, Kermita wasn’t a frog at all. She was a tadpole. A tadpole is a small underwater amphibian that looks like a small fish.

A tadpole has gills 00:44 - so that it can breathe underwater. After a couple weeks, the tadpole will develop lungs and grow two back legs. At this stage, kermita was starting to look like a normal frog! In the next few weeks, Kermita grew two front legs for four total legs. Her tail also got shorter and shorter until it was practically gone. Since Kermita now had legs, she hopped/splash out of the water and on to land for the very first time.

01:20 - She was still very very small since she was a young frog. A young frog will continue to grow for two to four years until it is known as an adult frog. Once Kermita and her friends are all grown up, they are able to lay eggs and start the whole cycle over again. .
