Hello Everyone! Shawn here, and I am going to demonstrate how to post to a Flipgrid activity in your Canvas course. For this example, I will use our @ONE Humanizing course. So I am logged into Canvas on the Dashboard. So I will select the Humanizing course, and now I am in the course. So next, I will locate the Flipgrid activity. So in this case, I will navigate to Modules by selecting the Modules link.

And the Orientation 00:43 - module includes an assignment that is a Meet n’ Greet. So I’ll go ahead and select the assignment. And now in the assignment, I will read through the prompt and the information. And at the bottom I see a “Load Meet n’ Greet in a new window” button, so I’ll go ahead and select that button. And now I am directed to the Flipgrid site. And as I can see by the title, this is in fact the Flipgrid activity that coincides with the course. So now I’ll scroll down a bit.

I can watch 01:29 - the video with the fabulous Fabi Torres! And once I’ve watched the video, I’m ready to record a response. So i’ll select the “Record a Response” button. So now I see that I see myself in my webcam. In this case, this is a laptop and it’ll be very similar to a desktop. So you may have your webcam built in, or you may have a USB webcam that is separate, but you should be able to see yourself, and you should also, which you can test later, make sure that your audio is coming through. Now you may see when you first go into Flipgrid, that a pop-up window will ask for, basically, permission for Flipgrid to access your microphone and camera.

So in that case, you would select the allow button. Okay, so I can look at different effects different options, right? In this case, I can do some fun stuff, add some filters and things. And then I can look at Options as well. I can upload a clip if I’ve already recorded a video. I can mirror the video if I like. So, now I am ready to record. So it’s not recording yet, so once I select this record button with the video camera icon, then it will begin recording. So I’m going to go ahead and do that now. Three, two, one countdown. All right, I’m live. I’m looking in the camera. I’m saying “Hello!” and I’m introducing myself to everyone.

So great to be here and spend this time with all 03:29 - of my wonderful peers. So now I am done with my video. If I need to, I can select the Redo button, and it will just simply prompt you to make sure that you want to delete and then start over. But I’m good, so I’ll go ahead and select Next. So now to edit, I can trim the video and, well that’s really the main edit function there. There are other functions, but so I’m going to go ahead and just click anywhere to move on. Okay, so now I’m watching myself in the video. So let’s say I want to trim the end of the video where I was sort of talking, uh, just some extra dialogue there. So I’m going to go ahead and just, in the time bar, I’ll go ahead and just select it. So now I see that there are two sidebars at the beginning and end of the timeline. So now I’m just going to click on one at the end, one of the time bars, and I’m going to select and hold and then drag it across to the part of the video that I want to actually cut out.

04:59 - So I can go back and check that to make sure that that’s how I want to trim the video. So now I’m ready to post my video, so I’ll go ahead and select the Confirm button. So i’m going to do that now. Okay, I can watch the video, make sure everything’s good. If I need to, I can select the Add More button, okay, but I’m not going to do that, so I’ll go ahead and select the Next button. And there’s my video again, so I’m going to select the Next button again. So now I’m ready to submit my video. So I see my display name, my email. You have a couple of other options.

And you also have this option of uploading a photo or taking a selfie 05:55 - for the image that will show as an icon when people are searching through videos and they want to see your video. So I’m going to go ahead and take a selfie. So I select that button, and since I am actually taking a picture of myself, I’ll just move my microphone out of the way, look in the camera and smile, and select the camera icon button. All right, it’s done. So now I will select the Confirm button. And there’s my image, and I’m ready to submit my video. So I will now select the Submit button. The video is uploading. Make sure to keep your Flipgrid app open while it’s uploading. And now success and fireworks! So I select the Complete button.

And you can scroll down 06:58 - and see your video along with all of your wonderful peers. So again this was how to post to a Flipgrid activity, and I hope it’s been helpful. So everyone have an awesome day! .
