Welcome to my video about grass trimmer As starter, we got here Makita DUR181 my father bought. For cost around 80USD, this string trimmer is powered by 18V batteries. And it happens to have just one string. Just one ridiculous string It has such low RPM and torque, that it is unable to cut regular grass clump. I brought this trimmer to my bunker to cut grass around it and almost no work was done. It was so bad, that I had to drive home and take petrol 4-stroke weed cutter.
01:04 - This one failed horribly This grass would take too long time. So I became so angry, that I made DIY trimmer. Definitely better one. It gets the job done, and thats that. These are industrial electrical switch handles, Parkside adaptor, 4Ah battery, PWM regulator. 2Ah battery was significantly weaker for this job. This is PWm module, so I can control RPM Bent aluminium rod And this from old Bosch drill. This is my third blade. First, cable tie blade, was useless. Too low RPM. Second was made from old DIN modular instrument rail, that performed very well.
SO I decided to continue my work and make this 30cm one. It isn’t the sharpest one, just crude, but effective! This was trimmed just twice Beautiful I was amazed by its ability to cut small tree look-alikes grown from stump. I just came, pfrrt, done This is plum stump. I also tried it on grass clump, 6 seconds and problem solved. No problems. Makita would, after few minutes, leave clump torso. It’s just, I don’t even know what am I supposed to do with this. Maybe to cut three forest grass blades? Don!t anyone buy it, it is useless. I was just so angry enough to make this post-apocalyptic trimmer. 4 hours total, including testing. And result overcomes Makita trimmer by far. I wanted to make a shielding, but setting clutch to 12Nm did the job. It can’t even throw small stones. ALso I tried to unlock the chuck.
The blade did almost stop when it was still in the chuck, then it just dropped on ground with almost no kinetic energy. .
