Hey, everyone! Right now I am in Guangzhou.

00:04 - It’s two hours away from Shenzhen. This looks like where my relatives live.

00:11 - So it’s very homey, you know. These kinds of alleys, there are a lot of them here.

00:16 - Today I got lost because I haven’t been to Guangzhou for so long.

00:23 - There are a lot of little alleys. The construction is very different from Shenzhen.

00:29 - You can get lost in the city. I have herbal tea near my neighbourhood in Shenzhen also.

00:39 - So yeah, same, very traditional neighbourhood.

00:42 - And you can look over there, just more Cantonese style.

00:48 - So the people here mostly speak Cantonese, some speak Mandarian.

00:52 - Like Shenzhen is an international city but Shenzhen focus more on tech.

00:59 - Guangzhou focuses more on foreign trade business.

01:06 - There is another store selling pork, butcher.

01:09 - So this is kind of like a wet market and urban village, a combination.

01:15 - You see all those preserved vegetables, kind of Hong Kong style.

01:19 - And you can see there are still a lot of people at night they are still selling vegetables and stuff, it’s very busy.

01:29 - Wow, I don’t want to go into the dark alleys, So I am going to focus on, stay in this alley.

01:40 - Right now it’s like almost 7’o clock. But they are still busy.

01:47 - So the first time when I went to New York, the first thing I did when I got off the plane is try to find some food.

01:54 - Even ramen noodles would be fine. But all I got was chips from the hotel.

02:07 - So this is wonton dumplings, you can buy it raw and then cook it at home. They also have noodles.

02:13 - So if I just got off the plane, I can come here no problem.

02:18 - If you want to find groceries, not just online, they also have offline stores, like this kind of stores still exist.

02:27 - Even though E-commerce is so common in China like you can get anything on Taobao But retired people, old people they are still working, working hard to support the family.

02:42 - This kind of store is common, I’ve shown you these around my neighbourhood.

02:48 - You know it’s great which I really like this.

02:51 - In Shenzhen, you won’t see a lot of these. You will see a lot of tall buildings, very international.

02:57 - Oh, this is one of my favourite. You see they roasted the pig. Very cheap, only $2 dollars for 500g.

03:10 - I don’t know where you guys are from. Maybe you live in like let’s say Texas or something like Florida, you don’t have anything like this.

03:20 - It’s special. It’s unique maybe for a lot of my foreign viewers, Western viewers.

03:28 - In Europe, I remember my trip with JLCPCB. In Italy, we can get pizza and stuff. That’s great too.

03:36 - But in America because I don’t live in the center of the city, that’s why it’s harder for me to get a night snack.

03:45 - But in here ok at night you come down here with your family, your friends, your co-workers.

03:51 - You come down here, oh, they even have fried food.

03:54 - They have Dongbei food. Alright, they have a lot of varieties here.

03:58 - It’s not just Cantonese food. You see they have Dongbei food, they have some fried food and dessert.

04:05 - They still have that kind of culture, you know.

04:10 - What I am going to show you is my little hotel. Yes, my hotel is located at this place.

04:16 - It’s this tiny place. When I got out of the taxi I thought the taxi driver dropped me off at the wrong place.

04:25 - I was pissed. I paid this much for you, like how can you get lost? Can’t you read a map? But the truth is they have to come all the way inside. If you need to go into this alley As you can see, you can only see bicycles and scootesr here.

04:46 - But you don’t see cars come in here. If a taxi wants to come inside that would be a disaster.

04:52 - Because the street is so busy. The street is wide enough for them but you can see there are a lot of street vendors.

05:02 - It’s so crowded, you don’t want to bump into any people.

05:05 - You see that little hotel? Hoi Feng Express.

05:09 - Can you believe that? Their name sounds like a convenience store.

05:13 - So when I came here I was like what the hell? It says hotel, game, store and laundry. Let’s take a look.

05:24 - Hello! I am filming right now. You see this? The style is so Wong Kar-wai the director of In the Mood for Love That kind of style.

05:37 - You know you come in and You still need to scan the QR code to show your trace.

05:44 - If I am from Shenzhen, there’s no problem. This is another QR code option and there is a map of the hotel.

05:52 - This kind of chocolate I ate a lot, Mylikes.

05:57 - Those I ate a lot of too, like it’s full of childhood memories.

06:01 - This hotel you can see there are a lot of old style of televisions upstairs. I think it’s just for the decoration.

06:08 - Maybe second hand but the owner did put a lot of effort into that.

06:13 - I don’t think the locals would appreciate this as much because usually Chinese don’t see this has much impact on them.

06:24 - These days they watch American TV, they watch Korean TV soap opera but in the old times this kind of stuff is super popular in our neighbours but They even sell the lotion my mom used to use, it’s so cheap. It’s $1 dollar.

06:40 - It’s the lotion for moisturizing your skin You know when you are just a worker in a factory, you don’t have a lot of extra money, you still have to protect your skin and Cantonese like a lot of my friends have dry skin problems including me, I have dry skin.

06:56 - This tiny little robot probably, I have never seen them before. It’s probably maybe an Asian American thing.

07:02 - Because growing up I’ve never seen this. So let’s go up.

07:10 - Those stickers you see right next to the TVs? Those stickers are really cute.

07:16 - They are like snack pack stickers. They have the Dim Sum stickers, you see these? In Chinatown when I bought the stickers to put on my luggage because so many people use the Xiaomi luggage It’s so hard to find it when it comes out from the conveyor belt.

07:33 - So I put the Hello Kitty stickers. Guess how much that cost me? That was like $8 dollars I think, that was crazy but here I think only $1 dollar You can have these culture stickers like Dim sum, char siu bao, dumplings, spring rolls, flat noodle and zong zi too, so cool.

07:54 - I am going to get some as souvenir gifts. Give some to my friends and visitors who come to my studio.

08:05 - And what is this? A postcard, very considerate.

08:11 - So on the second floor the first thing I see is the game arcade. I was like what the hell, why do you have game arcade Usually I only see it in a bar or something and this is kind of like a bar, a chilling area.

08:21 - Kind of like a canteen sort of area. And this is the game arcade, you can play here. If you have a kid or something that’s perfect, right? Now let’s go in circle, circular motion.

08:36 - This sign says soft drink, snacks, game. You can chill out here. See, that’s what I am talking about. If you have seen the movie in the Mood For Love by Wong Kar Wai You will see the resemblance.

08:48 - I just came back from the robot restaurant and I can put my leftovers in the microwave.

08:57 - They also have some washing machine here. I guess those are just for decoration, right? Maybe is for the cleaning ladies.

09:06 - Oh, you can scan Alipay, you can scan it and then put your clothes in.

09:15 - If you play mahjong you will know what that means. I don’t play mahjong, I don’t gamble.

09:21 - So they have cameras all over. And a no smoking sign.

09:30 - I think only two floors. I don’t think there are more to go.

09:37 - See, there are no more stairs. No stairs up so there are only two floors and then Yeah, alright. .
