Hello, I’m Dr. AJ Pinney, and I’m a family medicine physician born and raised in Midland, Michigan. I hold specialized fellowship training in non-surgical sports medicine. I provide both non-surgical musculoskeletal care and sports injury evaluation through MidMichigan’s Wellsport Program. I also serve as the head team physician for Alma College. My goal as a sports medicine physician is to identify the source or problem, utilize nuance diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, like ultrasound, and allow the body’s natural healing process to function in high gear.
00:33 - My mission is to reduce complications associated with long-term anti-inflammatory use and to discover activities that may engage my patients and encourage them to stay active based upon their own limitations. Some of my special interests include diagnostic ultrasound, non-operative fracture care, osteoarthritis and gout management, concussion management, and ultrasound guided steroid injections. I also hold special training in alternative medicines, as well as in the field of restorative medicine which utilizes a patient’s own blood plasma to signal to the body that an area is damaged and needs to be healed. This is in the form of platelet-rich plasma injections. In all cases, I strive to maximize all available non-surgical treatments to manage acute injuries, osteoarthritis, chronic shoulder instability, and chronic tendinopathies.
01:25 - The most satisfying aspect of my work is the ability to interact with my patients and see them improve throughout their treatment process. .
