Hi I’m Dr. Lori Glaze, and I’m the Director of NASA’s Planetary Science Division As a planetary scientist, one of the most important things we try to understand is how our solar system formed and how it has evolved over time and asteroids are a really important part of telling that story their remnants and relics of that early formation of the solar system and so NASA has put together a small fleet of spacecraft that are flying to multiple different types of asteroids scattered throughout the solar system to tell us how to piece together that early story about the solar system formation. Of course, OSIRIS-REx is an important part of that story, and one of the most important things about the OSIRIS-REx mission is it’s going to collect a sample and bring it back to Earth which is going to allow us to study that asteroid and that sample for many many generations to come. It’s really exciting come along with us! .
