Welcome to another Techview VLog this time about the Huawei Petal App This is an alternative to the normal Google search app that you normally find on an Android smartphone And on Huawei Phones you will probably find in the future the petal app And that allows Just like the Google search app to start a normal search But there is also a newsfeed to read the news And a few more features that I will now show you in the close-up Let’s take a closer look at the whole thing, we see a similar structure as in the Google Search App So we have the discovered tab we have search and we have the user account The very first thing I did was under user accounts Under settings language and region my search language in german And to set my search region to Germany, then I’ll get Messages displayed in German Under discover And here you can see I have the different Political, sports, Entertainment News that I am used to On top I have then the search button and the logo And of course I also have the possibility to tap on search here below and then start a search And I See also the local top apps here In my region there are, for example And also Essential Apps Which are offered to me here Just as Popular other apps that I can install with one click like snapchat I’ll click on that and then I get to the App Gallery where I can install the whole thing Let’s go back and see Here’s what happens when I start a search I have searched for Neptune OS What happens then Is It starts an online search And first of all search for an app and you see there are different apps it shows me from different sources Mostly it is apk pure sometimes it is even google play Though Google Play of course then when I click on it only leads to the website And I don’t have the possibility to use it then, so it’s a little counterproductive If I would like to start an online search I have the possibility to tap here on top This will start a search on the Qwant Search engine this is the one Which is likely to be used primarily for Europe Because here I have my search results And of course I also have the navigation that means when I click here on e.g. the website it opens it here in this internal browser And I can say ok this is the website I want to have Or no I would like to go back can then click here on back And then can go on something else And then say ok this is the website and yes I want to share it Or I have the option To open the website in an external browser, to copy the link Or even to download Of course I can always go back to the search by clicking here Depending on what region I have set in the settings there is a different search engine Let’s change the region United Kingdom e.g. I have to restart the app Restart Then Then when I start a search for again for Neptune OS e.g. Bing is recommended to me as search engine This means that depending on the region I have set up, there is a different online search engine that works in the background The results for the apps remain the same here But what changes is the apps that it recommends to me When I here leave this The local apps Could possibly be different you see I only have the Localization Changed when it comes to the region If I change the search language in English for example Then, of course, even more would be changed Now this App also has the advantage I can install programs directly Or download from apk pure For example, if I search for Minecraft it gives me a list here and from the list I can simply choose what I want to install e.g. the demo version of Minecraft I say install And It now loads in the background Minecraft or asks me may I download If I say yes now I can simply Install I’m gonna stop this.
05:10 - But that’s basically how I can get apps from apk pure download and install applications in an alternative way How to use this app can install programs There are a few more setting options an incognito mode Downloads Which are displayed like Minecraft Trial which I have already downloaded I could open now And of course the settings with language and region what I have already shown you, a secure search where I can also set How secure the search should be So whether inappropriate search results should also be included or not And here’s an explanation of what that means And the “search range” on the device can be adjusted because the search is first of all done on the device itself So if I’m going to be I’m going to search and after search for Eminem You see before I press the search button which performs an online search It’s already searching locally and it shows me whats on the Device e.g. it found Eminem as artist And this can be adjusted in the settings Under “Search range” set what should be searched for on the device itself So you want to search in apps, contacts, messages, calendar, memo, e-mails, settings and music You see, these are all Huawei’s own apps so where access is allowed e.g. I can search for messages or memos Then of course there is another function For the desktop itself, let’s go to the desktop and I Create a new one here. new desktop to show you that I can install a widget on it This is called the Petal Search or the “Petal Suche” also with its own search widget and when I find that I can show you that it basically looks almost exactly like Google search You see “searching for apps” it is called in this case but it is a bit more than just apps, because, as I said before, we can also searched online and local data can also be searched for And as a widget it works similar to the Google search or the Google widget With the possibility to search for different things Reddit for example I could open this up directly if I wanted to. That was so my short overview of the App The Petal search App I hope You liked the whole thing a bit and you Learned a little more about how this search app looks like now If you have any questions, remarks, comments you can leave them all in the comments section That’s it for this video See you next time ciao .
