Download the package. Drag it into your project, importing everything. Create a decal object in your scene. Put it somewhere, and project the mesh. Choose which decal to display, and change any other settings you want. There’s a simple editor for creating your own decals by selecting regions of textures. Shaders are included that handle everything from simple diffuse-only to full PBR maps. All the shaders are in the form of shader graphs so it’s easy to modify them to fit your needs.

That means you can use it as part of baked lighting and baked reflections it also means you can attach it as a child to any dynamic object and it’ll move around as you expect. The decals are as low cost to render as any other mesh with a transparent material and they’re ideal for use in VR. And of course the whole thing is free and open source. .
