IATSE Cares - COVID-19 Overflow Facility at The Liacouras Center
Union stagehands in Philadelphia introduced a design that uses live event technology to help convert venues into viable COVID-19 treatment facilities. The design repurposes theatrical trussing to bring life-saving infrastructure like lighting, power, and oxygen directly to the beds in temporary hospitals like the one in the Liacouras Center. IATSE, the Union that represents these stagehands, said that their hope is that this design can be implemented by technicians in communities around the country.
