fascinating world of human behavior psychologically speaking narcissism is a personality trait that every person possesses to some degree and like any characteristic it exists on a spectrum and we all fall somewhere along this narcissism continuum on the surface though narcissists are like regular people but something changes when assertiveness turns into arrogance self- love becomes self-centered and persuasion into manipulation we all feel good to be recognised on some level but narcissists have an excessive need for attention and it’s not that they want to be the center of attention they need this abundance of admiration and approval from others a true narcissist has a sense of entitlement seeing themselves as being exceptional with an inability to recognise the feelings and needs of other people and their condescending behaviour and vast fluctuations in mood lead to superficial and damaging relationships just as we need oxygen to breathe the narcissist needs the attention to survive or maybe i should say it’s not enough to survive they need the attention to thrive and well we’ve heard that somewhere before haven’t we so on the surface they are charming and captivating and have this unique ability to draw people in as you know the more enthralled and captivated you are the stronger they feel and it reminds me a little bit of Kaa you know the stake in jungle book as it’s like i want to say to you don’t look into their eyes as they will make you feel powerless as they draw you in with that enchanting aura but like any form of spell or superpower if you wait long enough it will wear off leaving you both emotionally and physically drained from the reality of the relationship that you’ve had with them but it’s not easy to handle their manipulative ways but you need to stop giving the narcissist what they need and the best way to take a narcissist power is to starve them of the incredible amount of attention that they crave so here are seven ways to starve a narcissist don’t react to their compliments a narcissist wants you to be around them they hate that feeling of not being noticed so they’re going to work extra hard to win your attention with lashings of compliments and verbal strokes of praise but they’re really clever because all of this is simply to get you into that feel-good state because if you feel good when you’re with them then why wouldn’t you choose to be by their side all the time but here’s the danger because in every double act one person is always the leader whilst the other is a stooge so before you know it you are being undermined and controlled as you cater for their every need and emotion and it really is incredibly easy to be drawn in but their compliments are empty and only provide this short-lived boost to the ego so if you are faced with their praise and overzealous compliments give them a very polite and courteous thank you as if you’ve loads of other things to do that are just way more important than their approval i have mentioned the penguins of madagascar before because i love their attitude don’t be drawn into their false friendship as there is no need to respond and as the penguins say just smile and wave boys smile and wave starve them of your secrets deep thoughts opinions and personal history when we share details about our lives we’re doing two things we’re creating or strengthening this intimate bond we have with the other person but we’re also building trust as we believe that our innermost thoughts feelings and actions will go no further but a narcissist acts from selfishness and it’s not a genuine interest so they will listen and nod in all the right places but they aren’t listening to help and support they’re simply stockpiling ammunition to use against you when they either need to pull you back into their web or cut you off altogether you see a narcissist feels this sense of power by retelling your secrets it’s that person that walks into the room saying oh my god guess what i know so this answer is don’t share anything about your life with a narcissist whatever the conversation is that you’re having imagine that you’re sat in a room full of people with all the people you know in your life that you like and dislike and if you wouldn’t want any of those people listening in to what you’re saying then don’t say it at all starve them of putting their needs over yours narcissists love a stage as it enables them to perform and see a reaction from the audience but what clever actors they are because they have the ability to alter their performance depending upon the reaction that they’re after and narcissists know exactly how to trigger people they know which ones to press and what to say and do to get you to react the way that they want because when they see the effect they’re having upon you such as an anger or sadness or frustration your defenses are lowered making it easier for them to step back in and regain control they don’t feel empathy or sorrow they begin to feel power so in order to starve them of the control that they crave don’t get emotional when they’re frustrating or upsetting you allow your mind to slowly wonder as you imagine them in a soundproof glass box you can see them but you can’t hear them look at them speaking find an item of clothing and inspect it think of the colour or the texture so as they’re talking your mind isn’t allowing their words to manipulate your mind what’s going around your head is oh what fancy buttons they’re wearing or i wonder if you can machine wash that fabric you can smile and nod in all the right places but you are placing your needs up of theirs as you don’t allow yourself to be drawn in as you have absolutely no interest in what they’re saying starve them of your self-control we know that there’s no such thing as a free lunch but with a narcissist there is no such thing as a favor with no strings attached because the narcissist will always try to collect on the favor that you never asked for or wanted the narcissist will make big promises you know that they never intend to keep it’s when you’re looking for a job and they claim that they know somebody and will put in a good word or they know of an opening and it’s in the bag if you want it but none of these things you’ve asked for or wanted or probably needed which is actually quite relevant because the narcissist never had any intention of doing anything about it in the first place but what they will do down the line is they will remind you of how much they have done for you and therefore what you now owe them in return so start the narcissist of all strings attached by not allowing them to take away your self-control make sure that you accept no favors and then you will owe nothing in return starve them of your empathy narcissists are like those old door-to-door salesmen when all they needed was to get one foot in the door and they could sell anything to anyone but in order to sell anything you need to build up this relationship with the customer and learn about the customer needs so the narcissist will work overtime to prove how much they know you are not there for you buttering you up with loving text messages or little thoughtful gifts and gestures and then when you lit expect it they will go in with a closing statement almost asking you to sign your life away and you have no idea how you’ve been drawn in yet again to starve a narcissist of your empathy don’t fall for actions that require you to commit to or buy into their own needs if they have a great idea or come to you with the you’re the only one i can turn to or ask be polite and still be kind but just like the door-to- door salesman you do have the right to say thank you very much but you’re not interested in what they have on offer today starve them of your engagement let’s be totally honest here you would need to be an absolute saint to have never uttered a bad word about anyone else right or wrong reality tv and social media are platforms encouraging us to err our views and opinions and what other people are doing saying or even wearing we even get the chance to vote for people we like the least and have them evicted all in the name of entertainment whether it’s at the school gates or over lunch there will usually be at least one conversation related to what somebody else has done or said but here’s the thing if two people are sharing thoughts about someone else again i’m not talking about right or wrong this is simply about the simple fact that it happens it’s a private two-way conversation between two people and unless one of them has no view or opinion and says clearly i’m not getting involved both people will usually voice some negativity but when one of them then goes off and tells the targeted person what has been said by the other person which is often embellished and taken out of context they have only one motive and mind and that is to cause pain and hurt in order to be seen as the trusted savior i discussed in my last video how we don’t all like everyone so having an opinion about someone else is simply human nature but the person who gains enjoyment for relating what someone else has said when they were co-conspirator unless it’s essential that person knows they are the dangerous narcissistic person to watch out for so starve them with your engagement don’t gossip with them about anybody or anything as whether it’s malicious or not the narcissist is the wolf in sheep’s clothing remind yourself if a friend tells you something that causes them pain for your gain you can trust them if they tell you something that causes you pain for no gain then question their friendship starve them of your interest you weren’t put on this earth to be an energy source or emotional support for a narcissist and if you keep giving them your attention and engaging with them their toxic presence will stay in your life for a long long time but if you stay emotionally neutral uninterested and unengaged the narcissist will turn to someone else to get their needs met it’s not your fault narcissists are the way that they are and it’s not your responsibility to fix them so when dealing with a narcissist your only responsibility is not to let them destroy you as a means to get the attention that they so desperately need if you’re dealing with someone who has narcissistic traits you must learn how to protect yourself by developing the skills to manage your emotions and stay calm in response to the narcissist tactics if you want to build your mental strength and face the obstacles and challenges in your life then now is the best time to make the decision to do something about it i’ve developed a program that will help you regain today we’re going to be going over the concepts mallard turdunken whatever you may call it nike sb dunk high set to release later this week this is the one from concepts so it has the special packaging and i wanted to make sure that you guys got a special look at this one in particular just because of this dope packaging welcome back to the channel what’s up with you guys how you doing how shipping box that you will receive in the mail if you were able to order this from concepts now this was available last week he got this from the concepts website retail was roughly around 250 bucks and as you know that’s a lot more than you would typically pay for a pair of sbs but at the same time you are paying for the experience and the packaging and everything that comes with this pair in particular compared to the 120 dollar price point that you would see on sneakers app so looking at the box right here it has all the same stuff all around the box and on the box it reads concepts oven on fire roast your friends in front of their friends and then it has a bunch of different random stuff on here high quality h2o just and it’s early don’t smoke crack don’t you can cold cereal i think who’s okay so there’s a bunch a lot of random words right here i don’t know if this is some like puzzle or something that they’ve created to make i don’t know this is like something that they got going on but yes this has a lot of weird words on it so enough of that let’s go ahead and crack this box open and see what’s inside so first thing right here we have the oven vibes of the box so looking at the box right here it looks like an oven which is crazy like the concept behind this alone and i know the place is called concept so i’m gonna say concept a lot but this is just honestly a dope concept and if you look back here on this side it’s just like smoking and everything but if you look on the front side of it right here it has all the sizes and everything right here in the front so we are looking at a size 10 and a half and it says concepts x nike sb dunk high tur duncan okay now opening this up right here bruh quality is there for sure it’s like it’s all is there like a magnet on here or something i don’t know but the material everything the quality everything behind that alone a1 for sure first thing that we have on top right here you have your nerf packaging you got your uh pie you got some corn with butter you got your mashed potatoes and gravy and then you got the turkey football right here on the inside so it’s got the nerf with the concepts on the back right here and then you got the nerf whistle ball so as you know it’s got the thanksgiving vibes and typically on thanksgiving you play in a turkey bowl so they had to incorporate the football and me personally i really love that touch so the next thing right here we have a piece of paper which is supposed to represent the turkey and on that it has a concept logo and it says concepts as well as you can see right here and then after that we got the shoe so i’m thinking this might be a special box just for this specific release as we know typically on sb’s when they have a special release they typically do the rainbow box and then when they have the regular release to the public they do just a regular sb box i hope they do the rainbow box for the regular release as well we shall see so on the inside of this box right here it’s kind of dope because you got the burner but it also could look like the c for the concepts logo which is super dope you got the fire everything going inside right here where the turkey cooks so the presentation alone just a1 like they did a great job and typically on sneakers you get you know a couple pair of laces or something may go with it or the box may look a little bit cool but this is an experience you’re literally purchasing an experience and this is something that you could show all your friends when they come over and like bro check this out and they gotta do this and i think when there’s so many steps to opening just to get to a pair of shoes i think that’s always dope i know sometimes it can get a little tedious but at the same time i think you’re paying for that experience and for the 250 bucks saying that the shoe is worth so much which we’ll talk about later on the resale value i think it’s worth it okay so we have seen the packaging and now it’s time to look at the shoes so like i said before we have the all-over rainbow print box and then on the tag right here reads the same thing nike sb dunk high pro quick strike size 10 and a half retail 120 bucks now that’s for the regular pair without all the packaging but this dunk is still a regular sb dunk which retails at 120 bucks now opening up the box you have an extra pair of socks right here okay with the concept stitch right here i’m assuming this is supposed to be like a bird’s leg you got the bird’s leg right here with the claw down here at the end of the socks retail on these is dollars i think this all comes in the same packaging and let’s go ahead and get into this shoe oh we got the shoe okay so first impressions of this shoe honestly i was more excited about the packaging than i am the actual shoe just because it’s just not for me i appreciate all of the work that went into this shoe trust me i appreciate the materials they look amazing which we will get into a second but for me i just don’t see myself rocking these and i wouldn’t mind if i did or didn’t get them or not so as i i know i know it’s not the popular opinion so let’s go ahead and start breaking down this shoe let’s talk about the styles cuts and materials the things that i do appreciate about the shoe and then we’ll see what you guys think at the end of the video with the pole starting with the outsole you have your classic nike sb outsole you got kind of like a two-tone with a little light tan and kind of like that salmon kind of color right there to it and then working our way up to the midsole you got a lighter kind of pink colorway on the midsole with the pink colored stitch and then going to the upper now the upper is mixed with a bunch of different materials and i appreciate everything about the shoe again i am not knocking this shoe at all so these are supposed to represent a mallard duck if you don’t know what it looks like here’s a picture for you to check it out but basically that’s the kind of concept and vibe that they’re going behind it to create this shoe and i understand and i appreciate all of the execution and everything about these bruh like honestly they did a great job and when i seen first images of the shoe i think that’s what really made me not like it as much because even if you look at the image on sneakers app they don’t look nearly good as they do in person materials everything quality a1 presentation a1 they did a great job on this shoe looking at the toe cap right here you kind of got like a shaggy material around the front you got a light tan suede toe cap here on the top looking at the mid foot on the side panels you kind of got that duct material kind of looking like it’s a duck feather on the sides right here on both sides and then you have a navy blue swoosh on the inside of the foot it’s kind of got that green iridescent vibe compared to the blue on the outside the swooshes almost look like they’re 3m but they’re actually not going to the back of the foot right here you got a softer vibe on the material kind of feels like a little teddy bear or something like that you got a nice little suede on the back end of the hill right here and then you got a white sock liner and on the inside you got images of ducks trees and the logos concept right here on the inside of the sock liner the white leather bruh this is nice going to the tongue you have an all green tongue similar to the swoosh on the inside of the foot you got a yellow leather nike sb logo tab right here says duck high pro instead of dunk high pro i think that’s pretty dope you have tan laces that come equipped with the shoes already you have an additional pair of yellow laces and a pair of burgundy laces to go with these as well let me know what color laces you were rocking these down below in the comment section so here’s the question dj if you like all these things about the shoe and the presentation and all that stuff why are you still hating on it why don’t you like it honestly like i said it’s just a very i don’t know like maybe a collector’s piece but it’s just not hitting home for me i don’t like hunting ducks you know it’s just i don’t know it’s just not for me and i could respect a lot of shoes out in this world that’s just not for me so i think there’s a lot of hype behind the resale price and that’s why there’s a demand for this sneaker and causing people want to have it and honestly for 120 dollars with the materials and everything that they did to this shoe if i could buy these for retail i could see myself hanging on to them just because i got them for 120 bucks just based off of the materials and how well they did on the shoe but i would never ever ever pay resale for a sneaker like this just to say that i had it i think that’s kind of where it divides the line on the fence for me yeah i wouldn’t mind grabbing it for retail just for the story and the concept and everything behind it and the materials and the presentation but i would just never want to no i just couldn’t do it like there’s certain shoes that i’m down to do that and this is not one honestly i feel like there’s no right or wrong answer it’s all based on everybody’s opinion how they feel and what they want you got to spend your money i got to spend mine and i’m just telling you right now i’m willing to spend 120 but i’m never going to pay resale for something like this so now let’s see what the people are talking about typically i post on my story if you haven’t already make sure you Fly Fishing New Zealands BIGGEST Backcountry Trout - North Island
here we are being a while between videos but we uh eventually as promised a while ago into the back country i was getting sick of it i’m pretty sure you guys may have been getting sick of just together video after tomorrow video and maybe a bit the odd bit of henny meyer here and there so i really thought i’d wait until i um got a chance to really do it properly get into the back country like i am today so hopefully we can sight for some big browns big rainbows and i’ve got two rods set up here i’ve got a dry fly rod set up and i’ve got an empty setup so we’ll cover all bases and hopefully crack into some good fish this right here looks beautiful i’ve pushed above it quite far a bit further up but i haven’t quite hit this spot here and it looks like some quite nice slow dry dropper he took the nymph pretty sure he’s a rainbow oh no i think it’s a big brand big fish whatever he is it’s quite hard to tell his size from his jumps i got a good view of his gut and he looked pretty bloody chunky come on come on don’t want to lose this fish this is a really nice fish come on as soon as he gets close to me he wants to just turn and go oh he looks beautiful there we go there we go that is a beautiful brown got the nymph set up out now i’m just going to work up this piece here there we go seasons putting on a bit of a show fairly small rainbow it’s got a little a lot of fighting i think i’m going to make a change in terms of my fly because that took a bit longer than i would have liked to hook not that i’m expecting to hook every car so i just i fished this spot with this setup and it was a bit better so i thought i might might make some change oh you poor there we go real nice condition though there we go that looks like a pretty solid rainbow this really solid i bought a friend to this spot a couple days back i caught one really nice rainbow it could be the same one even but straight away after making that change to just something a little bit more natural than what i had on he was first or second cast i hook up so jesus it looks like a good fish from here hard to say fully but doesn’t want to badge this fish is a beast of a rainbow got him right in the corner of the mouth absolutely hey come on he wants to go for another run oh no almost tangled me up on a rock there not quite there definitely not wrapped up i’ve only got two on i can see the other one from here just strong beautiful oh this could be the biggest rainbow i’ve ever caught just gonna weigh him now seven just over seven pound rainbow which i think nudges on the biggest rainbow so i’ve just moved up to the next pool i’ve gone back to my dry dropper rig i’m just walking up the edge here i’m looking to see if i can sort of see anything in close good [ __ ] jesus fish swam towards me i had to grab the main main line with my hand to keep it tight we go beautiful fish there we go quite similar to the first fish and i’m really stoked for that check out the colors that is an awesome fish and we’ll get them back so there you go oh dry dropper fishing really tests your eyesight here we go i’m guessing rainbow of the way this thing’s nipping around for a fairly small fish he had some fight they had some fight beautiful colors swim swim swim so i’m gonna run through where i’ve just gone through with the dry dropper now with the indicator them set up i’ll just early i’m going to get a bit closer on the bottom in and sort of the roughest stuff out there where either it’s really hard to see my dry or it would get sucked under if i was out there jesus that shot under that was aggressive how beautiful is this spot though look at that view just downstream there so good oh that’s a big boy that is a big boy that is a tank this day is really coming together and if you’re wondering about the indicator i’m using i can i adjusted up and down like when i got to this spot here i needed it to be a wee bit shallower a wee bit shorter than where i was before so i was able to just slide it down and i’m selling these indicators now so you should be able to find them at the creole or barry griggs from turangi and hopefully in further places soon there’s my little plug there turn your head he’s really not giving in to the side hall that i’m trying to put on him here i’m trying to try to give him a bit of side hall turn his head so he’s fighting against the current i’m pretty sure he’s just pretty solid fish because he doesn’t want to play that game i really want to get him in that softer water and one to go by yet oh gotcha the size of these fish are incredible look at that absolute beautiful fish heavy and that there is what he did to my hook just completely straightened it amazing he actually stayed on with the hook that bloody bent going through the same order with two different methods kind of goes to show one of my methods i’m fishing a lot shallower and one of them a lot deeper and on days like this you definitely do get both you get fish feeding at different levels get some still pretty stubborn stuck down hard on the bottom that you got to present to right in front of their face and then you get some that will check out a little bit higher in the water column and the nymph under are dry so those nums under dryers are very rarely going right along the bottom they’re just sort of hanging around mid-water column up it’s a mid-water column and interestingly both the browns have been on the both the browns have been on that system and the two rainbows were two solid rainbows have been on the indicator nymph so they’re just hugging the bottom a bit more maybe or maybe it’s just coincidence i think i’ll go one more fish and then call it a day i didn’t expect today to be so full on i didn’t think i’d be walking i was more really just thinking i was going for a look when i left the door this morning and now it’s turning to full-on video day expedition without lunch in my bag which is not very good planning i’ve just hooked one here jesus just as my nymphs were swinging at the bottom of my drift this is one thing i’ve been doing quite a bit they also just didn’t swing and the way they come around up off the bottom looks really natural i didn’t expect it there though usually when i wasn’t even really thinking of doing it on this fish just feels like another good fish i think it’s a brown this one i haven’t seen it but it’s acting like a brown or it’s foul hooked [ __ ] you lost it had to happen at some point of the day i did lose one really small one but it’s the first one that hasn’t really stuck i can’t complain too much so i think we’re gonna leave it at that call that a day i am starving i came really unprepared today i really just thought i was going for a drive having a look but it turned into a bit more than having a look and i’m glad i had more than a look because i’m super stoked with some of the quality of those fish that we caught so anyway i’m gonna start making my way back to the vehicle yeah that was unreal a little space of time there seven or eight fish and some really awesome ones amongst them so i’m definitely going to get back out here over the next few over the next month or so and probably do some more backcountry stuff around this area as well so stay tuned like and subscribe and i’ll see in the next video cheers .
